Who we are

A specialist firm, not a general practice

Moore Motoring Law is a small team of specialist motoring lawyers, supported by a paralegal and an administration assistant. Between them, our solicitors have dealt with thousands of road traffic cases — from low-level speeding offences to the most serious allegations of causing death by dangerous driving.

You deal with the people who actually run your case. We take instructions by phone at times that suit you — evenings and weekends included — or meet you in person. Whatever the hearing, we are prepared, punctual and professional, and we give straight-talking advice: if we do not think we can improve your position, we will tell you.

The directors of the firm, Maria Moore and Lucy Whitaker, have overall supervision of every file, which is regularly reviewed. The firm is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Maria Moore

Director · Solicitor · Higher Court Advocate

Maria has over 30 years’ experience in the criminal justice system. An accredited police station representative and higher court advocate, she deals with matters from the police station through the Magistrates’ Court and Crown Court, and specialises in exceptional hardship arguments. She initially trained as a legal adviser, training the very magistrates who decide these cases, and has appeared regularly on local radio to discuss motoring matters.

Lucy Whitaker

Director · Solicitor

Lucy is a solicitor with over 12 years’ experience dealing exclusively with motoring law and transport matters — from overloaded vehicles to death by dangerous driving — and regularly appears in the Magistrates’ Court. Lucy has her own caseload under the trading name Pragma Law. She leaves no stone unturned and pays great attention to detail.

David Swingler

Consultant Solicitor

David has over 20 years’ experience and has worked continuously in crime and motoring law. For a number of years he acted as an agent prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service — so he knows how cases are prosecuted at court. His specialism is trial advocacy. David will fight your corner.

Imogen Cox

Consultant Solicitor

Imogen is a solicitor with over 25 years’ experience — an accredited police station representative and higher court advocate who has always specialised in crime and motoring law, from speeding to defending death by careless and dangerous driving. Professional and approachable, with an excellent reputation.

Claire Howley

Administration Assistant

Claire has many years’ experience working for law firms. As well as administration work she liaises with clients, courts and third parties to ensure the smooth running of the business, and helps maintain our quality standards.

Lindsey Thorpe

Paralegal

Lindsey is a specialist motoring law paralegal with many years’ experience, who in recent years has focused entirely on motoring law. A very capable pair of hands.
