Business guidance on motoring offences
Bespoke guidance to help your business meet its responsibilities as a company and as an employer of drivers — and stay on the right side of the legislation.
Last reviewed: 2 August 2026
Who it is for
Employers of drivers — fleet operators, logistics and transport businesses, sales organisations, and any business whose people drive for work.
The aim
To give employers of drivers a sound understanding of:
- Basic road traffic offences
- Contractual obligations
- Statutory requirements
- New legislation
The format
We prepare bespoke written guidance for your organisation, or a presentation designed specifically for your business — normally lasting between one and two hours. We work closely with employment lawyers who deal with the contractual issues and your duties as an employer, while we focus on the motoring law matters.
The kinds of questions we cover
- Can I randomly test my employees for drugs?
- If my HR manager is convicted of drink driving, am I obliged to terminate their employment?
- If the company secretary fails to respond to a Notice of Intended Prosecution in time and the company is summonsed, has the company secretary committed an offence themselves?
- If an apprentice is told to answer the phone while driving when a client calls, is the employer assisting in the commission of an offence?
Cost
This depends on the content of the guidance, the duration of a presentation, your location and your budget — we will agree it with you up front.
